Why You Should Train Your Dog
Dogs are not the same as humans. Dogs have special needs and they communicate or behave differently compared to people. Hence, you cannot expect dogs to automatically get used to your lifestyle once you bring him or her home. It may take time before you can learn about them needs and let them know of your needs, too. Dog training is not only intended for your dog. It can be an advantage for you, too.
With dog training, you can look forward to having a pleasant relationship with your dog. It is also one of the best means to teach your dog good manners and help him or her become educated. During training, you can teach dogs a wide range of tricks through a number of cues or commands. It is in a dog’s nature to learn by interacting with their environment and with the help of different training procedures, they can learn fast. If you decide to train your dog, they can learn how to be polite and this can turn into lifelong habits.
You can teach dogs a variety of things. Most pet owners, however, decide to go through house training first. This is because the first few weeks of owning a dog is considered most difficult. By house training your dog, you can teach them that soiling in the house is not an option. This can be done for dogs between the ages of 12 and 16 weeks. It is at this age that dogs can already control their bladder and bowel movements. To start house training your puppy, you must create a routine first. Making them familiar to a regular schedule is a good start. Through this, they will know that there are specific times of the day when they should be eating, playing or doing their business. For your dog to learn to eliminate outside, you need to pick a specific spot for him or her. If your dog does it correctly, make sure to praise him or her. If you cannot monitor your dog all the time, you also have the option to confine them through crate training. To dogs, crates are their own private room. They won’t want to soil in their crates so it is considered an essential tool in house training. However, proper procedures must be taken when crate training dogs so as not to make them feel trapped and/or frustrated when inside their crates.
Dog training is not an immediate procedure. Just learning the basics may take you a while. For this reason, most dog owners prefer taking their dogs to training classes. In these classes, they have training instructors who knows what dogs need the most. You can start training your dog from 9 to 16 weeks of age. You can look for training courses based on what you believe your dog needs the most.
